Seslor’s First Look: Perfect Pushup V2
I am a proud owner of the original Perfect Pushup. While I do not use them as much as I should, I do occasionally rack up a few dozen pushups. If you have used the Perfect Pushups before, you probably know how much harder than a regular pushup it actually is. In fact, I only know two other people who can complete one perfect pushup. It’s been three years since the original’s release, and now the company has redesigned the entire product. Here is the email I was sent this this morning;
“Teammates, we’ve reached a milestone at Team Perfect. Three years after introducing our first product (Perfect Pushup Original), we are launching the second generation: Perfect Pushup V2. We have overhauled the new V2 from the ground up based on feedback we received from all of you. This is the Perfect Pushup reloaded!
After selling more than 4 million Perfect Pushups, our challenge was to take the Perfect Pushup to the next level. After three years of designing and re-designing, we hope you agree and that you find this new generation Pushup as Perfect as we do. Either way, we want to hear from you — the only way we can strive for perfection is with your feedback.”
The company is also looking for previous Perfect Pushup owners with a ‘perfect body’ to star in a commercial. Not that that applies to me or anyone reading this, but if it does shoot them an email.
Here are some of the new features the product is going to have;
More structure strength – for those working with a weight vest to take their workouts to the extreme, the V2 can handle it and then some.
More stability – both laterally and directionally to provide better rotation and muscle alignment during advanced movement patterns.
Better non-slip platform – a better base with tread-like grooves to increase surface area and adapt to dirt and uneven surfaces to ensure positive ground base connection.
More comfort - grooved grip has additional padding to better distribute weight.
More ball bearings – for better rotation under heavy load.
More selection – three different handle colors!
I am definitely excited about the extra padding and the added ball bearings because if you weigh as much as I do, these things hurt pretty bad. They are availbile to be purchased now, and for $40 which is how much I paid for mine two years ago. I recommend checking these out if you are looking for a substitute to weight lifting, but for something that still gives you the same effect.

Are You Subscribed to Esquire?
I have never been a big magazine person. Read them in the waiting rooms, maybe if they were sitting on a desk at school, but I quit my subscription to Sport Illustrated for Kids after 5th grade and that was pretty much the end of it. However all of that changed once I came across an issue of Esquire.
What I always believed to be a Playboy without the nudity actually turned out to be a manly-man’s magazine that can help sculpt a man’s life into how it needs to be. Sure it has the half naked girls with their jokes and their stories, but it also covers men’s fashion, sports, movie reviews, book reviews, short fiction stories, cars and guides on mixing drinks, proper hygiene, sex and everything in between. Absolutely anything a man could need can be found in this magazine.
The best part about all of this is the price. Currently they are having a sale where you can subscribe to 36 issues for just $16. That seems ridiculous, but there is no catch. It’s the same deal I signed up for, and I got my 7th issue in the mail last week, still no questions asked, and not other money has been rquested. It’s worth the price and if you are a male and need a little bit of guidence, it’s ok to ask for help. Esquire is there for you. You can even subscribe online.

Book Review: Relentless by Dean Koontz
My all time favorite author is Dean Koontz. I tried the Stephen King, and it was great. I couldn’t complain. I then tried Dean Koontz and he had something that King did not. I still today this day do not know exactly what that is, but because of it I have read close to twenty of the fifty something he has published. I honestly cannot get enough of his story telling, and most of my book shelves are filled with his novels. I was estatic to hear he had a new novel (and two more on the way) this summer, and I purchased his latest, Relentless, the day of its release. I then continued to finish it the very next day.
Here is the synopsis for this story:
“In Relentless, Koontz introduces us to Cullen Greenwich (known as “Cubby” to his closest friends) and his perfect life and family. He has a loving wife, Penny, who is an author and illustrator of children’s books. They have an intelligent six-year old son, Milo (”Spooky” to his parents), and a dog named Lassie who is almost part of the family. Cubby is a best-selling novelist and there is nothing else in this world that could make him any happier. But his perfect little life becomes a little less like it when Sherman Waxx gives his successful new book a bad review. It’s not supposed to affect him that much since it’s just one bad review, but Waxx is known to make or break your career and your life. Cubby tries shrugging it off but when he accidentally sees where the recluse Waxx eats his lunch. Curiosity kills the cat and in this case, it could cost Cubby more than what he had originally bargained for.”
The crazy sociopath isn’t uncommon in Koontz’s novels, but in this story he goes to the next level, which is perfect. Waxx is evil and we slowly find out just how much power this man holds.
Like most book reviews, I do not like to give too much away. Other than the synopsis, I would rather keep everything else a secret and tell you to read it yourself. I got my copy at Target for $18, and I don’t think you can get it cheaper anywhere else at the moment. This is definitely a good read, and is perfect if you are looking for something to read at the beach or inside on a rainy day to kill some time. Also would make a wonderful Father’s Day gift. I recommend checking it out for sure.
Also, if you are a Dean Koontz fan, last week he did a wonderful interview with USA Today that you should read.

Movie Review: ‘The Hangover’
Last August I saw the movie Tropic Thunder with my grandma and my mom. The movie turned out to be the most vulgar and R-rated worthy film that I saw that year. Turns out it also turned out to be the funniest, and even my grandma agrees. Now it is only June but I am going to go out on a limb and say that ‘The Hangover’ will be this year’s big comedy hit and I don’t see any other movie coming anywhere close to being as funny as this movie actually was. I will admit when I saw the trailer I thought the movie looked like it would be a disappointment and not deliver as a good comedy, but I was wrong in every way possible. It didn’t even take five minutes before my side hurt from laughing and it was then that I realized that I was in for a treat for the next one hundred minutes.
‘The Hangover’ follows four friends who are going to Vegas for a bachelor party for their friend Doug (Justin Bartha), who is getting married in two days, which leaves the guys plenty of time to party and make it back in time for the wedding. Unfortunately (an obviously), things don’t go as planned when the guys have a little too much fun and wake up in the hotel room, where things are completely trashed. Stu (played by Ed Helms) is the first to wake up, and doesn’t really realize how much trouble they got into until he finds a lion in the bathroom and a baby in the closet and it’s at that point the story that things start to go downhill for the guys. When the guys all wake up and try to figure out exactly what happened the previous night, they not only realize they can’t remember anything, but that they are also missing the groom-to-be. They start backtracking and go to the last places they remember being to find him, and this is when the crazy story line of this movie really starts getting good.
Aside from Justin Bartha, who played the comedic part of Riley in the National Treasure movies, and Ed Helms who plays Andy in the NBC show ‘The Office’, the movie also stars Zach Galifianakis (What Happens in Vegas) and Bradley Cooper (Wedding Crashers). I will say that Zach Galifianakis, who plays Alan, makes it the great comedy that it actually is, and does kind of what Tom Cruise’s Lex Grossman did for Tropic Thunder. He is hysterical and there isn’t one thing that comes out of his mouth that won’t leave you in tears from laughing. In the end though, all of these guys played their parts so well, and you can tell they had a lot of fun shooting the movie, and it all makes for a great film.
However, there is always a setback for a comedy that is actually this funny. It is rated R, and rightfully so. There are drugs, there is some intense language, and there is definitely sexual content which for the most part includes nudity. So that being said, am I promoting this movie? Absolutely. But only if you are above the age of 17 and your parents think you are mature enough to handle it, of course. If your child or sibling is trying to talk you into sneaking them into this one, I would recommend you try another movie, perhaps Up or Night at the Museum is a better choice. If you are old enough to see the movie and are just looking for a good time in the movie and aren’t offended easily, I would definitely recommend checking this one out. I will be seeing it again before it hits the shelves on DVD, and when it does I will be buying myself a copy. It really is that funny.
The movie runs at an hour and forty minutes, and while that may seem short the movie has enough jokes and an impressive story line to keep you happy from beginning to end. There is a good chance this is the funniest movie we see in 2009, so make sure you don’t miss it. It hits theaters today, Friday, June 05.

Electronics Review: Cool-er eBook
Have you ever thought about buying one of these ‘eBook readers’ that you keep hearing about? Well to put it simply, don’t.
The Price: $250
The Verdict: Cheap in every sense of the word, but usable. The Cool-er has the same 6-inch screen as the Sony e-reader, but renders text with a proprietary computer-screen-esque font face instead of the more “print”-like sony typeface. It is, of course, size-adjustable. You can also flip it 90 degrees to read in landscape mode.
As if it wasn’t obvious enough from its appearance, the Cool-er is designed to be the iPod of eBook readers. It succeeds in looking like an iPod and being available in a lot of colors, but fails in usability and design. The only thing going for it is that it works as an eBook reader if reading is the most important part of the package (which it is, to many people). Also, it’s quite a bit lighter than Sony’s eBook reader , so you can easily hold it with one hand while you’re brushing your teeth, lying in bed, or using the bathroom.
The problem comes from the interface—it feels very much like a Chinese knockoff. The giant iPod design, with the D-Pad scrollwheel acting as both a menu selector and a page turner, isn’t the best way to read a book. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend you waste your money like I did on this device.

Actor David Carradine Found Dead In Bangkok
Actor David Carradine, who you probably recognize as Bill from the ‘Kill Bill’ series was found dead in his hotel room located in the capital of Bangkok where he was filming a movie.
A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He says Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family. Unidentified police sources however are reporting that Carradine was found Thursday morning, where he was hanged in his hotel room. Suicide is clearly the suspected cause of death in the case.
He has been married five times and divorced four, and will be survived by his widow. He comes from a family of acting, as both his father and brother were involved in a few films as well.

Cardinals Coach Tony LaRussa Suing Twitter
If you have a Facebook or a Myspace you probably know that people make fake accounts to mimic celebrities all the time. Pretending to be someone famous makes kids with a lack of friends feel a little cooler when people think they are Miley Cyrus or Richard Simons. Unfortunately, this craze has followed over to Twitter, and St. Louis Cardinals Coach Tony LaRussa turned out to be one of the first that was targeted.
To my knowledge this is the first time a lawsuit is being issued against Twitter for something like this, and LaRussa says his grounds are on trademark infringement, dilution, cybersquatting and misappropriation of name and likeness. It only took a few hours after the suit was filed or the imposters page to be taken down.
Apparently the reason LaRussa was so upset was becuase the Tweets that were posted were vulgar and rude, and not how he wanted to be represented. This does cause a large problem when it comes to looking at this from a broader scale.
Anyone can log into Twitter right now and make a fake account for George Clooney, Ronald McDonald or even Tony the Tiger and there is no way for Twitter or any of its users to know whether or not these celebrities/role models are real.
Hopefully LaRussa’s lawsuit will draw attention to the problem and the websites can come up with a plan of action to prevent this from happening in the future. Until then just be careful when talking to people who claim to be famous online. There is a good chance they are just a low life who are in need of some attention.
